- What courses are required in order to renew/maintain my license.

- What Information is required to register?
For payment and registration you will need to supply your Name, Billing Address, Phone, Email and Credit Card information. For certification with the State Department of Insurance, you will also need to supply your *Agent License Number and your *Social Security Number.
*The Department requests disclosure of a student's social security number pursuant to Insurance Code Sections 1749, 1749.2, 1749.3, 1749.4, 1749.5, 1749.7, and California Code of Regulations, Title 10, Chapter 5, Section 2188.4(b)(1). This information is requested so that the Department can properly identify and assign credit to students who have completed prelicensing or continuing education courses. While a student's disclosure of his or her social security number here is not mandatory, any failure to provide this information may delay or otherwise impede the Department in assigning credit for the completion of such courses to the appropriate students. **See below for security information.
- What about the security and privacy of my information?
- All customer information is securely submitted through a 128bit SSL secure certificate.
- No full credit card numbers are stored in our database
- We do not share your information, sensitive or otherwise with any outside agency other than the State Deptartment of Insurance.
- Our Service Provider makes every effort to insure the integrity of your information using "best practices" for programming security and data transfer.
- Do I need any special software to take an online course?
No, A web browser is all that is needed. There are no plugins or additional software needed to take our online courses. The only software application you may want is Adobe Acrobat Reader (Available as a free download from www.adobe.com) for reading or printing course material while not connected to the internet.
- What type/version of web browser will work?
This site is best viewed by Microsoft Internet Explorer v5.50 or greater (6.0 highly recommended). However, the following browsers have will also work just fine (though some items may display less than optimally)
- Mozilla Firefox .9
- Netscape 6.2 or greater,
- Opera 7.
Other browsers will most likely work just fine though may not have been certified.
- I only have a slow dial-up modem connection to the Internet, Will that be a problem?
Not a problem at all. This site is designed for quick page loading over modem connections.
- How are the course materials provided?
Materials for our online courses are available in two formats, online web pages and PDF document. You may study the course materials by registering and logging into the SITS website. You may also download materials as a Adobe Acrobat PDF file so that you may print or study the material off-line.
- What is the minimum passing score for the exam/s?
The passing grade is at least 70% in order to pass an exam. If your course has a passing percentage that differs from this it will be noted in the course profile.
- How does the Course Menu Work?
Once registered for a Course and logged in, you will see a Course Menu on the left-hand side of the page containing links to the course material.
- Q. Why do I only see Section 1 when I start?
A. You will only see links for the section you are currently working on and those below it.
- Q. How do I see the rest of the Course Sections?
A. You must attempt each section review quiz at least once. Take the Section quiz by clicking the Section Quiz link on the menu or in your Course Profile. The next section will then appear in the menu.
- Q. Why do the sections appear in revese order in the menu? e.g. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
A. This so the most current Section is always at the top of the Menu. It also helps you remember where you were when you log back in after a short absence.
- What is the section quiz and how does it work?
Our online courses are presented in sections. Each Section has a short section review quiz (2-6 questions) that must be attempted at least once prior to continuing with the next section of material. You do not have to pass the quizes as they do not count toward your passing grade, however, they are a good indicator of your comprehension and ability to pass the final exam.
- How do I take my exam? After studying the course materials and attempting each section quiz at least once, you may take the exam at any point you feel ready by clicking the "Take Final Exam" Link in the course menu or by going to "View Course Profile" and clicking the "Take Final Exam" link. The test questions are simple multiple choice and True/False Questions. Be sure to make a selection for each question and click Grade This Test When you are finished answering questions.
- What is the difference between a Section Quiz and the Exam?
- A Section Quiz Does not count toward your passing grade.
- A Section Quiz shows you the answers you got right and wrong.
- A Section Quiz gives you study links to the page the question comes from.
- Per State requirements; The Final Exam only shows you the number correct and your percentage.
- You must pass the Final Exam to receive credit.
- You may take the Final Exam multiple times.
- What Happens if I don't pass a test?
The primary puropose of this site is to provide you with quality continuing education and certification in the course. If you do not pass an exam, you may continue to study the course materials and retake the exam when you are ready.
- Why do the test questions and answer options change order?
This is done for two reasons: to ensure the integrity of the test by randomizing it each time and to "teach to the concepts" instead of the test. *Note there are no letters (A, B, C, D) associated with test answers, you simply check the box beside the right answer
- Why don't I see what answers I got correct or incorrect after an exam?
State requirements for online and correspondence courses prohibit the display of both your correct and incorrect test questions. You will see the number out of total questions you got correct as well as your percentage score.
- What do I do if I get disconnected from the Internet while taking a test?
You will be able to log back on and will need to retake your test. Your test is not graded until you hit the submit button.
- How long do I have to complete my course?
For your benefit, We encourage you to finish your online course as rapidly as possible. However, once you pay for an online course you must complete within 6 months.
- When is my course credited to the State?
At the end of each week, all Course completions are recorded with the state. You may log back in to your Course Profile and view the status or your records.
- How do I get my certificate?
Once you have completed the Final Exam with a passing grade you may open and print your certificate of completion from the Course Profile Page.
