A resident of Santa Clara County for over 24 years, is a career agent with New York Life Insurance Company devoting his practice to the education and sales of long-term care insurance. Walt is also a Registered Representative offering securities through NYLIFE Securities Inc. He has received the professional designation of Life Underwriters Training Fellow (LUTCF) and Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) and has led his San Jose office in long-term care sales.

Mr. Schimmel is a 20 year member of the Silicon Valley AIFA, Tri-Valley Association of Estate Planners and Society of Financial Service Professionals, San Jose Chapter, Society of Certified Senior Advisors and an endorsed insurance agent representing Moore & Associates Insurance & Financial Services to The California Chiropractors Association for all members' financial services.

Walt's practice emphasizes assisting Californians to minimize the common pitfalls made by many seniors. He works with business owners and medical professionals throughout the Bay Area offering long-term care insurance to their practice, co-workers and family members as a vital requirement to complete the process of estate planning.

Likewise, Walt has helped families and individuals reduce or minimize taxes on social security income, potential estate tax liability, and protect their life's accumulation for the next generation through the purchase of needed long-term care insurance. Over the past decades, Walt has included retired government workers, teachers, physicians, business owners, managers approaching retirement and working families, with children, and their elder parents needing chronic care and long-term protection.

He enjoys educating his fellow California insurance agents, for required CE credit, completing requirements to sell long-term care insurance in the State of California. That is why he has been added to our list of qualified instructors teaching long-term care CE courses. Walt's many years of selling long-term care, in addition to his own life's experience regarding the care of elders in a chronic long-term care setting, and how it impacts a family, makes him well qualified to relate the real life hardships families endure without proper advance planning for long-term care.

Walt is a Campbell homeowner residing with his wife Judy and their cat "Ringo." When he is not found in the classroom teaching SITS CE classes, you can find him on the nearest golf course honing his amateur skills at ball striking.
