Management Profile
Walter Schimmel, Jr.

Walter Schimmel, Jr., a Santa Clara County resident for over 30 years is the Founder of Latitude Insurance & Financial Services. Latitude’s Mission Statement is to advance the health, financial and asset protection opportunity for all our clients and those who participate in our planning process. We will fulfill this mission by helping our clients to make conscious, deliberate, financial decisions.

Walt has earned the professional designations of Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) and Chartered Federal Employee Benefits Consultant (ChFEBC). He holds a securities license as a Registered Representative with Capital Financial Group/H. Beck, Inc. He is a member of Silicon Valley AIFA, Society of Financial Service Professionals, San Jose Chapter and The Financial Planning Association, Silicon Valley Chapter. He is also a participant with the Agents Advisory Group for The California Partnership for Long Term Care.

Schimmel’s practice emphasizes assisting Californians’ to minimize common pitfalls made by many in the wake of experiencing a long term care event. His practice includes: business owners, medical professionals, federal employees plus those nearing retirement seeking long term care solutions to protecting their lifetime assets. He reminds his clients not to be confused with going to a nursing home with getting sick and needing care.

Walt has helped clients by assisting families who seek to protect their life’s savings by introducing “The California Partnership For Long Term Care” to combat the high costs of ‘chronic’ non-restorative, disabilities by purchasing suitable insurance. This policy creates a financial ‘backstop’ allowing one to conserve, spend or provide for heirs without ear-marking retirement funds for ‘chronic’ maintenance and support.

Walt’s years of firsthand experience in the care of elders plagued with ‘chronic’ illnesses, its devastating impact on families, makes him well qualified to relate real life hardships people endure when there is no advanced planning. The only sensible solution is to incorporate a discussion about long term care insurance into every retirement planning analysis.

Walt is a Campbell homeowner residing with his wife Judy, her mother Carmel, and their tuxedo cat “Tommy.” When he is not counseling retirees [or those soon to be] you can find him on the nearest golf course honing his amateur ball striking skills.
